Rising Power of Social Media

A few days ago, we saw resignation of one of the spokespersons of Congress Party from all his parliamentary position on the alleged misconduct inside a Court premises. In fact, this news was hidden from the general public by the Main Stream Media from the beginning. All media houses (both print and electronic) did not bother to report about this earlier, although court asked them not to show the CD’s contents. Reporting the news was not prohibited by the court, but the Media deliberately blacks out this news since the issue involved a ruling party member.

Now question arises: Had the issue involved a member of an opposition party, would any media house have shown this much of restraint? The media houses in India are notorious for conducting trial and give their judgement sitting from their posh studios. They become the judge and adjudicator, they gather some evidence from “sources” and throw them on ignorant public. But in the Singvi case, the accused MP got a reprieve from the court which prohibited the channels not to show the alleged CD’s contents.

Read the following blog of a famous media critic which exposes tricks that Indian Mainstream media (MSM), our so called TV channels and newspapers are playing all these years.

http://www.mediacrooks.com/2012/04/why-indian-msm-wants-social-media-dead.html

The same media never showed any restraint previously in many cases invloving famous personalities, as they mostly belonged to opposition parties or belonged to a particular community. The following link shows how biased the MSM about the Right To Education Bill.

http://www.mediacrooks.com/2012/04/self-righteous-shill-rte.html

Few questions naturally come up regarding the conduct of the Indian media?

- Will they show similar restraint for all the future issues involving a common man?

- Will they show some sense of respect to an accused?

- WIll they stop any future Trial by Media in the Prime Time news hours and give an accused a chance to speak before the highest court of law instead of to them first?

Trial by Media

The recent vivid example is Arushi Talwar murder case, where the entire media played a heinous role of indicting the parents of the girl as the criminal even before the case was heard before the Court.

The most dangerous example of Trial by Media is the case against Narendra Modi which has been going on for a decade without a shred of evidence of his involvement in riots. The entire media is up in arms against the leader and launched the most disgusting character assassination campaign ever. Unfortunately despite their best efforts, he has been elected twice to rule the state and still going to rule for another term.

We all know how the same news channels used the word “Sources” to bring some untruth about any person or accused. The sources in these cases mostly govt. agents or CBI or Police who used to make selective leaks to the Media and make the issue most sensational. The Supreme Court cautioned media against their irresponsible reporting affecting the honour of crime victim, in case of Aarushi murder. It advised that both print and electronic media should exercise caution in publishing any news regarding the case which may prejudie the case or damage reputations.

The same Mainstream media showcased BS Yeddyurapa as one of the most corrupt CM, but when the court absloved him of all those cases filed by Lokayukta, no media reported this and by that time they have successfully tarnished the image of one of the most popular CM of Karnataka. This showed how electronic media and journalists unleashed their dirty tricks on opposition or whosoever opposing the UPA govt. Social Media like Twitter and Facebook are used extensively to expose these tricks of the Media houses and ruling party.

The MSM tried to spoil the “India Against Corruption” Movement which brought lakhs of people on the street spontaneously with inspiring Anna Hazare but later the same media was used to tarnish the reputation of Team Anna members with active connivance of the Ruling party. They played every trick of the trade, even a fake and morphed CD was used to expose Team Anna members’ corruption, which court disqualified outright. The movement is gone for ever from public eyes.

Time has come to be aware and be awakened about these traitors in the electronic media who are in connivance with their political paymasters are playing with the nation and its wealth. The same govt. offers the journalists or news editors awards like Padmashree, Padma Bhusan and offers them land at low prices, bails out them whenever they face any financial crisis. All these are done in such a hush hush manner that the public will not get any clue about these tricks.

Social Media Advantage

The Mainstream Media is seriously afraid of rising people’s power, the voice of the people through Social Media like Twitter and Facebook. The voice of common man from the street must be taken to the Powers that Be through the Social Media. The Mainstream Media creates a fake and rosy picture of the country as if “All iz Well” with the economy or Growth of the country. The media must focus the real issues affecting the country rather than IPL, Indo-Pak Cricket series, or the next Shahrukh movie etc. We must be aware of the many issues affecting the country: actual debt trap of this country, how the country is making the repayment to the World Bank and other countries, defence preparedness in the case of war. We must be responsible for the future generation of the country. Social Media must be lauded for its efforts in enlightening the masses about the things which the Mainstream media usually blacks out from the masses.

The main pillar of Social Media: Blogs, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and online petitions are forceful tools that can be used to galvanize support for local and national causes. Twitter and FB helped in Anna movement last year. They helped bringing the great Arab Spring revolution in many countries. Facebook reportedly boast of abut 901 million users who daily use Facebook. It will touch 1 Billion in a few months, I guess. Out of world’s population of 7 billion, Facebook has almost 1 billion users who daily log in or get the information from it. Because the people trust these social media more and more rather than the MSM.

Indian Media in deep nexus with vested interests of businessmen, dealers, fixers and politicians are not allowing the rule of the game to be toppled by Social Media. Now they are trying to create roadblocks in the Free Speech movement as they are all afraid of losing their control over the system. The politicians will be used to frame laws against the Free Speech movement of Social Media. We must be awakened about the system in deep nexus with vested interests which has taken over the control of the wealth of the nation, those few people in the ruling class are getting the ultimate benefit in the name of democracy disregarding the livelihood or problems of the vast majority of the public.

Only a powerful Social Media can bring about a revolution in the country as fourth pillar of democracy (Press or Media) is already dead in the country.

Time to send the goodwill for the Universe

Why we are being fed with so much negativity from all around these days? Our day starts with newspaper headlines such as “CWG disaster, religious clashes, Terror attack, mass murder by Maoists, corruption at the highest level, suicide by student, farmer or a housewife, political/business leader accused of corruption, horrible traffic jams because of a CM’s convoy, incompetent govt. staffs’ attitude, natural calamities like drought, cyclone, earthquake etc, and the list goes on. The whole of India downs its shutters because of a fear of a Bharat Bandh impact or adverse fallout of a court verdict. We barely find a single positive news item in the newspaper these days. Newspapers feed us with sensational stories, because they thrive on creating hype, sensationalism, and fear psychosis among the masses. As per a renowned editor, “fear sells, not peace”. So channels catch the attention of the audience like: (in Hindi) Bomb blast ke baad, pure desh mein sannata ka mahol cha gaya he."

A farmer’s innovative ploughing method/machines cannot become a national news item, where as criminal-murderer turned MLAs/MPs throwing huge parties at a city hotel become a newspaper item. We feel happy to get a daily dose of negativity and sensationalism which titillates our minds, though with a loss of confidence and a sense of dejection about the entire system. We dont read any positive news item even if there is any single item, because our minds are slowly tuned into negative picture, because of the continuous bombardment of these emotions from all around. We don’t protest like the way Amir Khan did in Rang de Basanti, but one thing we do is: we silently scold our state or the country or our babus for the nation's ills from our bathrooms.
Almost all the 24×7 national or regional TV channels bombard us with a daily dose of news items with negativity. We live on or fall prey to these channels’ breaking news gamble which has absolutely no value at all, except corrupting our mind. The news anchors or editors show us completely biased and prejudiced views and news owing allegiance to their sponsors or affiliated parties. We helplessly watch these channels, since we have no other choice for getting information. The tone, tenor, and the approach to a critical problem by the media often vitiate the problem rather than solving it. We all have seen the media’s approach during 26/11 attack or time of any riots. This way, the fourth pillar of democracy, Free Press, has died its natural death in India. As a result, “Truth” suffers ultimately unable to come to the front.
Not only news channels but also almost all the major serials on TVs or films these days depict only the negative shade of human behavior such as infidelity, horror, murder, sex, crime stories with finer details and with a repeat telecast. I wonder when we will be blessed with any positive news or any thought-provoking serials or films. Do we have any hope? The so called big budget films, whether regional or national, have a seriously negative and immature approach towards the cause of the masses. Just imagine the kind of destructive impact on the purest minds of school going kids, who are daily forced to watch a violent face of a gun-toting hero on city billboards. Even some irresponsible parents enjoy watching such violent film scenes on the TV in front of their kids at home or enjoy watching these films with their kids at multiplexes. This creates debilitating impact on the soft and purest mind of a kid. Thus, our kids are daily brought up and fed with so much negativity around.

After reading all the above, we feel, do we have a choice? We have to still depend on this biased media’s way of handling truth. The media claims that all these incidents are happening in our daily life, so what’s wrong in presenting these facts on TV or films or print media. No doubt, a few media channels play a huge role in bringing an issue to the public or showcase the real India around us. But majority of the channels or print media distort a fact and add some spice to the actual news and distort the fact in a biased manner. There is a huge difference between the standards of a BBC/CNN discussion with an Indian TV channel’s discussion on any news of national importance. Their discussions in the TV studios show tremendous level of maturity among the anchors or the guests unlike ours which resemble more like a street fight in a vegetable market. The standards of debates in regional channels are not worth mentioning here.

We don’t learn the positives from our western counterpart; we always like to take the negatives from them. When a Hollywood actress like Julia Roberts turns to India in search of peace, our masses tend to imbibe western culture, which is very much visible in our Bollywood movies barring a few. By surrendering our age-old values, we have lost our true Indian identity in the process.

I will quote Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s popular speech for every Indian here, which was circulated long ago:
I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was the day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place. The Hamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert into an orchid and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in the newspaper, buried among other news.

No religion or caste or language will have any impact on our life when we know the value of our own life, and the true purpose of life. We will forget the divisive mindsets perpetrated by vested interests. We will find peace within if we know how to find it. Instead of getting affected by external happenings, we need to pray for good and leave it to the Almighty to decide the course of action.
Even while reading newspapers or watching a news channels, we need to be unbiased or impartial to the news feed, and try to judge the news from all angles: why we are being fed such news at the first place or why we are forced to see the pessimistic story or is there anything hidden from us. We need to impose on ourselves extreme restraint instead of getting overwhelmed with euphoria or an emotional frenzy. We should stay away from getting brain washed by these biased channels. The dark characters sitting behind the channels were nicely depicted in some quality movies like “Peepli Live” or “Mumbai Meri Jaan”.
There goes a saying:
“A man becomes what he thinks he is….We should not let any destructive suggestions, thoughts of ill-will, hatred, destruction enter; for merely to think of them is already to give them a power of realisation… One must not admit bad thoughts into oneself under the pretext that they are merely thoughts. They are tools of execution. And one should not allow them to exist in oneself if one doesn’t want them to do their work of destruction.”

I once read a story of a monk, who used to sit on a sea shore of South India, and used to meditate and talk aloud at the sky very early in the morning. Passersby were astonished to see him and wondered about his strange behavior. One day, a person out of curiosity asked him why he is sitting like this over a rock and what he is telling to the sky. The monk replied, “I am sending thousands of good vibes and goodwill to the world daily, so that the people of this world can live peacefully. The world is witnessing so much chaos, conflict, hatred, and confusion all around. So by sending these many positive thoughts, the negative forces surrounding this universe will ultimately vanish, and this world will follow “Truth” and not live in ignorance or fear”. The power of positive vibes will far outweigh the negative vibes and finally “peace” will be restored in the universe.”

I am very much impressed with this selfless noble idea. Can you guess if all our countrymen practically bear this thought, what significant impact it will have on the universe? If instead of getting affected by any negative biased news or thoughts, we all send our goodwill for that news or for that affected person, it will prevent that unforeseen event to happen or diminish any negative fallout. The more the positive vibration around the atmosphere, the more positive will be its impact all around. We can start this practically on our daily life: Instead of beginning with a daily dose of “falsehood” items on the newspaper and getting biased since morning, we should start reading some sacred text or valuable stories which will keep us positive throughout the day. While driving on the Hyderabad roads, known for its notorious traffic and driving sense, we can pray for the entire mass of people who are travelling on the road should not meet with any accident and should return safely home. Not only we can pray for our community or our country, but also we can also pray for those negative evil forces which are out to destroy us. We should pray that these forces or symbol of falsehood should be purified and enlightened with the Truth. This process, if continued by all the people of the country, will send good vibes throughout the atmosphere and prevent or at least lessen any untoward incidents or calamity or any misfortune. The sending of goodwill can be done irrespective of any caste, creed or religion or language.
All the Goodwills will be for the sake of Humanity….
Ultimately “Truth” will triumph….

Approach of Indian and Western Media during national crisis

Terror at Friday Prayer, Black Friday in Old City
70 Killed, 100 injured
Angry mob attack VIPs, crowds erupt, vehicles stoned, VIPs beaten up
Statewide bandh called by all Opposition parties today
These were the Newspaper Headlines appeared just day after the Hyderabad Bomb Blast in 2007.
Along with the pictures of stone throwing incidents.
Picture of a lone policeman shooting at the angry rampaging mob.
Gruesome colorful pictures of dead bodies, bodies of a father and a son separated by a distance...blood splashed on the road, on the religious place of worship.

July 26, 2008
Headline:
17 Bomb Blasts Rock Ahmedabad
Five of them even in CM's Constituency
Techies at IT, BPO firms too scared to work.
Main Headline:
Bangalore, Ahmedabad. Who's Next?

After few days, news about Delhi serial Bomb Blast appears:
And the front page showed the exact timing of each blasts, places, people killed and
injured.
Headline:
Hyderabad, Mumbai, Surat, now New Delhi...
HELPLESS

The newspapers also publish the past records of terror attacks:
Hyderabad's Date with Terror: List of terror attacks, places, no. of people killed, injured all data provided in graphic details.

Similarly, the TV channels just moments after any terror attack give 24x7 live telecast of the details of the attack, show communally sensitive picutures, arousing the strong sentiments of the general public. These pictures create a scare among the public and also provoke them to take some drastic steps to avenge the attack.

Flashback September 12, 2001.
Just day after Twin Tower blast in New York (NY)
Here were some of the headlines US newspapers:

The City Carries On... (News Day)

I LOVE NY MORE THAN EVER
Entire full page of the "Daily News" was devoted to just one line. N gruesome pictures of dead bodies

God Bless America (News Week)

Let Us Pray (Daily Express)

America Unites (People)

America in Agony

Searching for Survivors

Unthinkable

Disbelief

One Nation ... Indivisible (TIME)
Just one word sums up the feeling of the entire nation who suffered from the worst terror attack...

The Best one is:
Honoring the Rescuers (NYT)
Front page of the newspaper has displayed pictures of 69 rescuers who went to save the people in the building and could not return...with caption: America salutes YOU...

These fire fighters just threw their lives into the door of death even after knowing the severity of the terror attack on their soil.
There was not a single angry reaction from the general public in general. No doubt there was fear and angst among the masses.
But there was no bandh called by the Opposition Party in America next day.
No stone pelting incident on George W Bush who visited the blast site 7 days after blast. They didn’t beat any VIPs.
The unique point was there was not a single picture of a dead body, or any injured victim’s photos published in any of the national newspapers like it gets published in Indian media.

Only one picture that appeared in all the national media, both print and visual media:
A devastated Twin Tower of World Trade Center standing tall amidst the fumes...No TV channels showed a single dead body or an injured victim to increase their TRP ratings. The media didn’t create any fear psychosis among the people.
This shows the maturity of a nation when faced with a gravest crisis in its history.
******************************************************************************
Yes, it shows how one nation is maturing towards insensitivity and callousness and another maturing towards solidarity during national crisis.
One nation which takes pride in the teachings of love and peace, in being the land of Mahatma Gandhi, flashes violence, fear, hatred among the masses. The Indian media carries on its propaganda of glorifying bloodshed in the minds and hearts of people by hyping the gory details.

Media thrives on propagating negativity, because “negativity” sells in the market. Should negativity rule our mind?

During last year's terror attack on Mumbai, Indian media kept the nation on the hook by creating fear psychosis and war hysteria by continuously showing the graphic images. The entire rescue operation was shown live in TV channels, which proved disastrous for the safety of the SPG commandos who went to save the people trapped inside the hotels. The terrorists got all the information shown in live TV coverage through their WiFi connection. We had shamelessly put the lives of our commandoes in severe risk in the name of freedom of speech and expression.
In such situations, we should learn from the western countries, how boldly they face such crisis.
Few pointers which I can suggest:
  • Newspapers should stop create unnatural fear psychosis. At the time of distress, they should work as a Force to bring solace for the suffering public. They should not aggravate the situation.
  • There should be complete control over the operation by the Central Government during such emergency operation; we must not put the rescue team’s life into risk by constantly telecasting the images from the site.
  • There is need to educate the media about the negative impact of such telecast.
  • It’s always good to present the truth as it is, without any distortion, but there are better ways to present the fact.
In the name of Freedom of speech and expression, we just can't put everything live on TV or in print media. We must apply caution and responsible, and show immense maturity and sensitivity to fellow community. Rousing the passion of the public, creating war hysteria, and starting the blame game immediately after any unfortunate event will not augur well for the unity and strength of the nation.
We must behave responsibly and stop this terrorism of our hearts and minds first.
I’d like to take the example of Dr. Abdul Kalaam’s speech, when he was the President of India and went to visit Israel. There was huge bomb blast by Hamas, the dreaded terrorist organization. Almost 60 people lost their lives in the Car Bomb blast in the busy cross section of their Capital Tel Aviv.
In the next day’s newspaper headline, Dr. Kalaam could not find the news about the terror attack on the front page. Instead, the front page had a picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert land into an orchid and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to in Israel. The gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths were inside the newspaper, buried among other news.
In India we are fed with all types of negative news about death, terrorism, murder, and crime.

It is high time we should shun negativity and bring out our best spirit in critical situations. It is time our media should learn a lesson or two from their western counterparts and behave more maturely and responsibly.

My journey

I was born during the early hours of the full moon night of Kartik, coinciding with Guru Nanak’s birthday, thus becoming an instant celebrity.
Ours is a middle-class family with strong values. I being the only son of my parents, with five sisters, was pampered and loved by my family to the maximum.
Thinking of my childhood, I fail to remember the number of times that I have been punished for the naughty and mischievous pranks on my class-mates. I was our Headmaster’s pet, that’s the reason why his day wasn’t complete without scolding me. A dictator in class, my class-mates were terrorized by my “dadagiri”.
I had equal talent in studies as well (reading and writing were what interested me most) since childhood. I used to complete all sorts of books (mythological, children-stories, GK books, etc.) that my father brought me, in record time. I topped from std 1 to 10 in my school, located in Jeypore, a small town in the southern part of Orissa. The best thing about me was I won all the Essay and Quiz competitions held at school. When in the 8th grade, I used to topple the 10th std guys in Quiz competitions. Then, I had a dream of becoming a great Quiz master, due to my thirst for knowledge. I could easily remember all the 179 countries along with their respective capitals, Presidents, PMs, etc as a 5th grader! It was a passion for me to remember all the 79 ministers of PV Narsimha Rao cabinet.
Suddenly this passion died down when I came out of school. I was carried away by the then prevalent career options of either getting into Medicine or Engineering.
But everytime I appeared some entrance exam to this effect, this dream looked more and more distant. Ultimately it set below the horizon with my getting a good rank in the only Agricultural University of our state.
I got a degree in Ag. Engineering. Just fresh out of college and the "Dot com" bubble burst in 2000. I was scared of entering IT sector,
My dreams and goals kept on fluctuating every moment, as I could not set any clear goals. One fine day I would dream of joining the civil services and the next moment I would think of becoming a Govt Ag. Engineer- a permanent job, which had been my mother’s compelling desire.
…but eventually I stepped into the domain I feared, though not directly -- IT. Currently, I am working as a Technical writer for an IT company.
Pursuit of Knowledge had brought laurels to my educational certificates, pursuit of livelihood landed me in a world of flickering worries. Ultimately it was my interest that is my bread-earner now.
Writing became my passion. This passion is taking gigantic strides now. I am dreaming of authoring novels now. Well I do not know who and how many lucky ones will be there in this world to read my novels, but I ‘ve got two confirmed readers for my novel even before it comes into the market. One is myself and other is my wife!
On a serious note I am trying hard to channelise my zealous energy, to cut a coal into a diamond.
I go by the following philosophy:
Quoting Longfellow –
Trust no Future, howe'er pleasant !
Let the dead Past bury its head !
Act,— act in the living Present !
Heart within, and God o'erhead !

Mumbai bomb blast, an overview

26/11, called as India's 9/11, has left a lasting impression in my mind. I was glued to television for the three days of live terror and dastardly killing of people in cold blood. The picture of that lone LeT gunmen Kasab going on a killing spree in the streets of Mumbai will be an unforgettable image. The image of people near the India Gate suddenly bending to the ground to escape the bullet shots, the splashing of blood in the CST terminus, scattered shoes, suitcases, and baggage with scores of dead bodies nearby were perhaps the saddest images I have ever seen in life. These terrorist acts were barbaric, gruesome, and unpardonable actions committed against a civilized and "secular" country as per the statement from Foreign ministry. But I feel this dastardly action need not only strong condemnation in every form but also retaliatory action against the perpetrators of this heinous crime.

I want to focus on various actors in this entire operation

1. Stupid Common Man:
It is high time the stupid common man (from the movie "Wednesday") should rise above the masses and realize their true strength. He“must” act when his beloved Basanti (Motherland India) is in danger, colour (“Rang De”) it with colour of freedom. The aam aadmi (UPA jargon) has no other alternatives to reach their destination, he must take the same land route (not an aerial route which our VIPs use to inspect the flood affected land) using local train or BEST buses to reach his destination. The medium may not be guaranteed the BEST medium, as it has no life insurance with it. The “aam aadmi” calls back home or gets a call from home after reaching his usual destination "safely". (He reaches safely not because there was heavy police bandobast (deployment) on the road, usually seen on the eve of national days, festivals or during any VIP dignitaries’ visit to the place. He reaches safely because terrorists did not want to kill anybody that day with a bomb blast or a landmine. Again, the common man has a very short term memory to remember such tragic incidences for ever. Thankfully IPL Premier league was cancelled, but Rab De Bana Di Jodi and Gazhni will surely make him forget the worst tragedy of the country in a flash of seconds.
Already our own Marathi manoos “Sachin” had dedicated his 41st century for the people of Mumbai as if this announcement sans donation from the richest man of the city will make Mumbaikar forget their near and dear ones with his explosive batting. It is time to forget and forgive, the true Indian spirit….and wait for the next blast… true Opposition style…..For some these blasts and killings are a career mission which will take them to so called Heaven, for some these are an opportunity of their life time to hype it till the next election, for some this is their one time opportunity to increase their TRP ratings and be the media moghul, and finally for someone like a Stupid common man, it is a matter of initial shock, but later forget and forgive and move on….in life, there is no other way out, no other opportunity except to earn one's livelihood.
But Media has found a term for this, i.e. the great Spirit of Mumbaikars.
Do aam aadmi have any choice left? I feel there is no such great spirit, it is a question of people’s survival, question of their daily bread and butter. The breadwinner of the family has to go by him/herself and travel those terrorist infested routes ("read the streets, stations, markets, offices") without any gun toting SPG commandos by the sides. The question arises: What a common man should do now, in such situation? Answer is: first stop watching TV channels, or reading those newspapers which recklessly and shamelessly show live telecast of negative news and try to create fear psychosis and war hysteria among the masses. When the public disallows a biased media to create terrorism of their mind and heart, they can win half the race of their lives.
Next way to live is believe in God more and more than anybody else. Only God can save all. He only can bring the real strength in us, and can be our real strength for all. No one else. We should throw away our emotion and be brave enough inside to face this life head on with any situation. We should increase our faith on the Almighty, the omnipotent and omniscient, rather than on a Patil or a PC. He can tell us if our near and dear ones will return home safely or not had we prayed to Him sincerely. We'd leave everything at God's discretion without unnecessarily worrying.

The stupid common man can follow another path as shown in Wednesday, i.e. he becomes a non-state actor and take revenge on the so called "non-state actors" from across the border. When the state machinery fails completely to protect him, he arises from the masses and becomes a savior for all and takes revenge on perpetrators of terrorism single handedly and wins the hearts of the millions of people of the country. To make it happen, the common man does not need to stand for any religion or caste, but stand for his own survival, his family and his country and its future generation. The corrupt politicians, the weak police force, and the inefficient government officials cannot protect the common citizens of the country. But this is only possible in reel life, and not in reality. As this is a dangerous path, and it will make a peace-loving neutral person a blood thirsty and revengeful player. Tit-for-tat is not the correct way to approach a crisis. Instead we just offer everything to God. We must take all our worries at Her Lotus feet, Let The Almighty take care of all, guide us the true and honest path.

2. Politicians
It is our misfortune that we have been blessed with such callous, insensitive and selfish politicians to rule our country. God has not given us very little option to choose from the scoundrels. May be it is God’s Will that we are force to such power-hungry people to rule this great noble country. Everybody will go through a phase of life where they will learn to transform themselves, they cannot take this life for granted. Everyone in this world is given a chance, a circumstance, in life where they must listen to their inner call, and decide their next step which will change their life forever. If they fail to realize their inner calling, later they will regret for losing the best opportunity of leading an honest and truthful life.

It is futile to scold the politicians in full public glare, in live Television debate, in long Mumbai March or a Delhi candle march near India Gate. Nothing will change the genes of politicians as it is strongly resistance proof.
We need not be ashamed of our unscrupulous politicians who write our destiny sitting in our Parliament or assemblies. They must remember one quote: You can fool all the people some of the time but cannot fool all the people all the time.
God must have found some purpose and reason for bestowing such power mongers among the masses.
The politicians should have united at this tragic incident time and must step in to uplift the morale of the nation which is facing its deepest crisis.

They must not stoop to any lows to play politics on the dead bodies of common man and martyr soldiers and bring shame to country's image internationally.

3. Journalists/Media Fraternity:
The Media calls this attack as “War on Mumbai”. They were fortunately able to create a false War Hysteria and terrible fear psychosis on the masses, that entire country was brought to a standstill. Such is the power of media in this age of Internet and communication. Getting such live news can be accepted as part of freedom of expression or freedom of speech. But the way the fact was presented before the public was highly deplorable and unpardonable. The entire media, both electronic and print, so called fourth pillar of democracy, brought a sorry picture of the nation at its distress. They failed miserably to work as a force to bring solace to the suffering public, but went to claim best TRP ratings for their live coverage. They didn’t care for the safety of a fellow SPG commando who is jumping into the fire and rescuing innocent victims, but they went after showing the pictures of the devastated hotel just minutes after the blast leaving no clue to the police. They had a running race to claim the number of dead bodies, the victims: Our channel is the only channel which has brought the figures of dead as 200. It is a matter of great pride for our channel to bring this news first for the public. So callous…so insensitive… we have become towards the society, to the suffering public. These channels won’t even care even if their CEO’s child got killed in that terror attack.
Instead of acting as a vigil for the public, acting as a pillar of strength, the media failed to unite the public and politicians at the grave crisis. They were able to showcase the entire country as a place of death and destruction, utterly helpless; there is no hope left from the government of the day.
Instead the media should have used this opportunity to build the nation, and not divide the nation on linguistic or religious basis; they should not have shown immense maturity in not showing the pictures of dead bodies showing their religious allegiance. The outpouring of emotion and fear psychosis among the masses must have been controlled. They should have shown positive news out of all these negative atmosphere; They should have shown “Hope” in place of “Helplessness.” They should not have started or telecast any blame games among the politicians when the country is in crisis. The post mortem can be done later in a much professional and impartial way.
